Silver Apples were among the first bands to combine electronic sounds with rock music, making them pioneers of experimental and electronic pop decades before the genre became mainstream. Their influence can later be heard in artists ranging from Kraftwerk to modern electronic music.

This 1996 reissue of Fractal Flow features a previously unpublished portrait of band member Simeon created by Andy Warhol during the late 1960s. At the time, both Warhol and Silver Apples were exploring new artistic territory and challenging conventional ideas about music and culture.

The release brings together two important strands of American counterculture: Warhol's Pop Art movement and one of the earliest electronic rock groups in history.
