Released one year after Andy Warhol's death, The Silver Collection demonstrates how quickly his visual style became a language adopted by others. The cover presents Dusty Springfield in a portrait clearly inspired by the colourful celebrity images Warhol had refined throughout the 1970s and 1980s.

By the late twentieth century, Warhol's approach to portraiture had become instantly recognizable across the world. Bold colours, simplified forms and dramatic contrasts could immediately evoke his work even when he had no direct involvement in the design.

The album serves as a reminder that Warhol's influence did not end with his death. His visual ideas continued to shape graphic design, advertising and record covers for decades afterwards.
